Once Upon A Time Cecil Gowing

Our sessional care nursery school is located within the grounds of Cecil Gowing Infant School, and we have been here since 2007. The nursery mainly caters for three and four year olds during school term times only, but we occasionally accept a small number of two year olds. Many of the children who attend this nursery progress to Cecil Gowing Infant School making it a fairly smooth transition.

The building we occupy is separate from but adjacent to the Infant School. We have our own secure outside play area and the free flow of indoor and outside play is encouraged.

The team use an online app called ‘Tapestry’ to record each child’s learning journal. Parents can log in whenever they wish to keep up to date with the activities their child has been doing at nursery, along with their developmental progress.

Meet the Manager

Sessional Manager

Becki Habershon

I have worked in Early Years for the last 14 years and started my Once upon a time journey at Constitution Hill in 2018, where I quickly took over as a Room Manager. I briefly returned to ‘The Hill’ after maternity leave and I am now delighted to manage Cecil Gowing pre-school. I hold a level 3 qualification in Early Years and have more recently completed my level 3 SENCo award.

I am supported by a brilliant team who all share my passion for making sure the nursery creates a safe, fun filled environment where the children can thrive as they learn through play. A wide variety of activities are planned to meet children’s individual needs and spark their imaginations as we aim to create magic throughout the day.

It’s so rewarding to see the children’s confidence, skills and personalities develop as we help them to become ready for their next adventure, as they prepare for school.

We have a great relationship with the school, who will often invite us to join in with exciting ventures they have, from meeting ducklings, to teaming up for celebrations.

Outside of work, I enjoy socialising with friends and love to travel. I was fortunate to be able to take 2 years out of work to see some of the world, exploring New Zealand, Southeast Asia and Australia where I worked as an Au pair. Now, my favourite past time is spending time with my family and watching my daughter grow.

I’m joined by Sarah and Emma, who are both Deputy Nursery Managers, along with Anna, Laura, Jenna and our Apprentice, Holly.
